52 years sharing with you the best of Ecuador
:: Cuenca: a Spanish colonial city in the Andes ::

Cobbled streets, graceful ironwork balconies, flowering plazas and courtyards, and religious art treasures recall Cuenca's Colonial past. The stunning Andes landscapes, the blend of indigenous and Spanish peoples and cultures, the high artistic quality of local handcrafts and colorful markets are very Ecuadorian.

:: Galapagos visitor sites: what are they? ::
The Galápagos National Park was declared as such back in 1959. Tourism, however, was hardly considered a formal activity in the archipelago. :: The feast of The “Mama Negra” ::

In Latacunga, a city in Ecuador’s highlands, the celebration of the Mama Negra or Black Mother is the most important tradition, celebrated in the month of September in honor of the Lady of Mercy. Since a few years ago the festivity is also recreated in November to celebrate de Independence of Latacunga.

:: The Nazca Boobies ::

If you could find the whitest bird near the shoreline, it has to be a Nazca Booby. Formerly known as Masked (White) Booby, this native sea bird has one of the most intriguing behaviours in the animal world. Nazca Boobies belong to the Sulidae family (Order Pelicaniformes), and are part of the three gannet species of the archipelago. Size wise, it is also the largest of all three.

:: Climate Update: transition days ahead ::

By following our monthly descriptions you have understood the islands’ remarkable weather pattern. Those two seasons are not only unusual for tropical standards, but they are responsible for acting as determining factors upon wildlife survival. The changes also trigger the onset of reproduction.
